Unofficial: Kabambe Suffers Defeat in Parliamentary Race

Unconfirmed results indicate that United Transformation Movement (UTM) leader Dalitso Kabambe has lost the Masambanjati Constituency by-election in Thyolo District, after securing only 1,114 votes.
Kabambe was defeated by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Flaviour Kasitomu, who won the seat with 5,861 votes.
According to the Malawi News Agency (MANA), in the presidential race for the same constituency, DPP’s presidential candidate Peter Mutharika emerged the frontrunner with 18,755 votes. Kabambe came second with 484 votes, while Lazarus Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) received 203 votes.
