Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Annabel Mtalimanja has saids the commission will begin the process of verifying the results of the recent elections this afternoon.

Mtalimanja made the announcement today at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, as she received official documents that will be used to enter the results for the presidential, parliamentary, and local government (councillor) elections.

The materials, which were stored at the MEC warehouse, were opened in the presence of party representatives, journalists, and election observers from various organisations to ensure transparency.

This marks the beginning of the most crucial phase of the electoral process, the official verification and tabulation of results, which millions of Malawians have been eagerly waiting for.

With tensions high and speculation mounting across the country, the commencement of this process brings a sense of relief and renewed hope for a transparent outcome.

All eyes are now on the MEC as the nation awaits the official announcement of who will lead Malawi in the next term.
