Truck Accident Claims Three Lives in Nkhotakota

In NKhotakota, three people have died, while six others sustained different degrees of injuries following a road Accident involving a Hino 5 tonner truck that occurred at Lifuliza Bridge along the Kayoyo–Chipelera (Mwansambo) earth road.
The three including a driver identified as Ganizani Chadza, 36, from Chiponda village in the area of Traditional Authority Chiwere in Dowa.
According to the report, in the early hours of September 19, 2025, the late Chadza was driving the vehicle registration number KK 9054 from the direction of Kayoyo – Chipelera earth road with eight passengers on board.
Upon arrival at Lifuliza Bridge, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, swerved to the extreme nearside, and the vehicle overturned once before plunging into the stream.
Chadza and two unidentified male passengers suffered severe head injuries and were pronounced dead on arrival at Nkhotakota District Hospital.
The remaining six passengers escaped with different degrees of injuries, while the motor vehicle’s front section was extensively damaged.
Police in Nkhotakota have since appealed to motorists and all road users to observe speed limits, particularly when driving on earth roads and near bridges, to avoid similar deaths.
