The United Transformation Movement (UTM) has strongly distanced itself from an alleged joint press briefing being circulated on social media, claiming to involve the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), United Democratic Front (UDF), and United Transformation Movement (UTM).
In a statement released on Friday, the party clarified that it is not part of any such event said to be taking place this evening at Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe.
“The UTM Party wishes to inform our members, supporters, and the general public that we are not part of the alleged joint press briefing being circulated on social media, claiming to involve MCP, UTM, and UDF,” the party said.
Describing the reports as “false information deliberately aimed at misleading Malawians and creating unnecessary confusion,” UTM emphasized that it remains focused on its own agenda and internal programs.
The party also reiterated that all official communication will be issued only through its verified platforms and designated spokespersons.
“We urge all members and the public to treat this fake invitation with the contempt it deserves,” the statement added.
The UTM has recently increased its efforts to combat misinformation, urging supporters to remain vigilant and to verify any information through official channels.
