Uncle Helps Friend In Defil!ng Niece In Zambia

Police in Chama District have opened investigations and launched a manhunt for a man identified as Bunnet Nthala of Kanyelele Village, who is alleged to have defiled a 14-year-old girl.
Eastern Province Police Robertson Mweemba confirmed that the case was reported at Chama Police Station on September 24, 2025, by the victim’s father that his daughter a Grade 6 pupil at Kanyelele Primary School, was attacked on the night of September 22 around 20:00 hours.
Mr Mweemba stated that , the girl was lured from her home by two friends who claimed that her uncle, Innocent Munthali, had sent for her. She later met Munthali and his friend, the suspect, who deceived her into believing her mother had sent them to pick her up on a motorbike.
The two men allegedly diverted to a secluded area where Nthala forcibly dragged the girl into the bushes and defiled her, while Munthali stood by without intervening.
The victim’s mother, (name withheld) who happened to be passing by, heard her daughter’s cries and rushed to the scene, prompting the suspect to flee. The girl was taken to Kanyelele Clinic, where medical staff confirmed the allegations and advised that the matter be reported to police.
A medical report was issued, and a docket of case has since been opened. Police say investigations are underway and a manhunt has been launched to bring the suspect to justice
