German club Hannover 96 has signed 18-year-old Malawian attacking talent Mwisho Mhango from the Ascent Soccer Academy on a five-year contract.
Mhango, who impressed at the Cosafa Region 5 Youth Games in Namibia with his prolific goal-scoring, will officially join Hannover 96 once he reaches the required age for senior team eligibility.
The young forward has been with the Ascent Academy, where he developed his technical and tactical skills, and is regarded as one of Malawi’s brightest prospects in youth football.
Since Tuesday, Mhango has been in Hannover undergoing medical tests, contract signing, and the obligatory club media content shoot. He also had the opportunity to tour the city and the Maschsee Stadium.
Hannover 96 fans will be watching closely as Mhango transitions from academy football in Malawi to the German professional ranks, hoping he can replicate his scoring form on a bigger stage.
