Woman Divorced For Having Affair With Her Best Friend’s Husband

The Matero Local Court has officially dissolved a 19-year marriage between 44-year-old truck driver Offrin Muyaya and his wife, 38-year-old Mildred Kunda of Kabanana compound, after she openly confessed to adultery.
Appearing before Magistrate Harriet Mulenga, Ms. Kunda admitted to engaging in an affair with her best friend’s husband, who also serves as a church elder.
She explained that the affair stemmed from five years of sexual neglect in her marriage, despite enjoying intimacy with her husband for the first 14 years. Ms. Kunda further cited financial hardship, claiming that Mr. Muyaya provided little support for her and their four children.
She added that her church requires members to confess such sins, which led her to disclose the affair to her husband, her church, and her best friend.
In his testimony, Mr. Muyaya said he felt deeply betrayed and could not continue in the marriage.
Magistrate Mulenga granted the divorce without awarding compensation to either party but ordered Mr. Muyaya to pay K2,500 in monthly child support, effective October 31.
