Fired Truck Driver Found Dead in Unfinished House in Chikwawa

A man identified as Imran Abdullah Phiri from Iponga in Karonga District has been found dead in an unfinished house at Dyeratu Trading Centre in Chikwawa District.

Chikwawa Police Public Relations Officer Dickson Matemba confirmed the incident, saying the deceased had been staying at the site after being dismissed from his job.

According to Matemba, Phiri was previously employed as a truck driver by Synohydro Company, which is currently constructing a canal under the Shire Valley Transformation Programme.

He was reportedly fired for repeatedly reporting to work while under the influence of alcohol.

Police officers, accompanied by medical personnel from Chikwawa District Hospital, visited the scene.
