Eight Malawians Die in South Africa Bus Accident

The Government of Malawi has confirmed that eight Malawians died following a bus accident that occurred on October 12, 2025, in Louis Trichardt, Limpopo Province, South Africa.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was revealed that a total of 23 Malawians were involved in the accident, including 16 men, five women, and two children.
Seven of the victims died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment. The remaining 15 sustained various degrees of injuries.
Of those injured, seven are still hospitalized, while eight have since been discharged and repatriated to Malawi.
Reads the statement in part: “The Ministry is currently working closely with the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), to provide necessary support to the bereaved families, particularly those unable to repatriate the remains of their loved ones.”
