President Arthur Peter Mutharika has officially appointed Cathy Maulidi, former Times Group and MIJ FM reporter, as the new State House Press Secretary shutting down rumors that Brian Banda was making a comeback.
According to a statement dated 27 October 2025, APM made several top government appointments including Frank Mbeta as Attorney General, Gertrude Hiva as Solicitor General, and Festino Maele as Director of Public Prosecutions.
Cathy’s appointment has turned heads across social media, with many Malawians praising her rise from newsroom hustle to the presidential spotlight while others are still in disbelief that Brian didn’t make the cut.
The appointments take immediate effect, and all eyes are now on Cathy to see how she handles the heat of State House communication.
