The Mazombwe family has made history and drawn national attention after three of its members won parliamentary seats in the 2025 general elections.
The siblings Rachael Mazombwe (Mchinji North), Goston Mazombwe (Mchinji East), and Madalitso Mazombwe (Salima South) have all secured seats in the National Assembly, making their family one of the most politically successful in the country.
Rachael, who won on a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket, is returning to Parliament for her fourth consecutive term, continuing her long-standing service in Mchinji North.
Her brothers, Goston, who contested as an independent candidate, triumphed in Mchinji East after two previous unsuccessful attempts, while the youngest sibling, Madalitso, also running as an independent, secured victory in Salima South in his first-ever race.
“We thank God that we all won the parliamentary polls, of course in different constituencies,” the siblings said in a joint statement. “Yes, we are blessed, but what matters most is to serve our constituents.”
The Mazombwe family’s remarkable success has sparked widespread admiration, with many describing it as a sign of strong leadership roots and unity within the family.
