Malawian hip-hop artist Waxy Kay has condemned the growing trend of circulating and sharing nude videos and pictures on social media, which has recently sparked widespread discussion in the country.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the artist whose real name is Wonderful Kapenga, expressed disappointment over the behavior, saying it reflects moral decay and poor upbringing among some people.
“A well-raised person from a God-fearing family cannot send nude pictures to their partner. It shows a lack of proper upbringing,” Waxy Kay wrote.
“If there is real love between two people, one can simply meet their partner in person instead of sending indecent pictures. Anyone found recording or leaking such videos should be prosecuted and jailed for life.”
He went on to say that technological advancement has made the situation worse, arguing that older generations were more disciplined and respectful.
“This generation has lost its way. Life was much better during the days of Kamuzu Banda and Bakili Muluzi,” he added.
The rapper also advised Malawians to maintain moral values and self-respect, saying Malawi is known as a peaceful nation and should remain that way.
“Let’s preserve our dignity and continue to fear God. Those who plan to record such videos should think twice,” he warned.
Waxy Kay’s statement comes just weeks after several models and video vixens in Malawi went viral when their private videos and pictures were leaked online, sparking public outrage and calls for stronger enforcement of cyber laws.
