Police in Nsanje have arrested an 18-year-old woman and her mother on suspicion of murdering a 25-year-old man at Nyale Village, under Senior Chief Mbenje.

Nsanje Police deputy spokesperson Jabulani Ng’oma identified the suspects as Maureen Jambo (18) and her mother Modester Foster (32). The deceased has been identified as Khefasi Liwichi, Maureen’s husband.

According to Ng’oma, the incident followed a domestic dispute between Maureen and her husband, which led her to flee to her parents’ home nearby.

“The deceased followed her there, and another quarrel erupted. During the confrontation, the mother intervened and allegedly pulled the victim by his private parts until he lost consciousness,” Ng’oma said.

Liwichi was rushed to Kalemba Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Postmortem results indicated that his death was due to internal injuries sustained from being pulled by the genitals.

The deceased hailed from Gamba Village, while the suspects come from Nyale Village, both under Senior Chief Mbenje in Nsanje District.

Police say investigations into the matter are still underway.
