The Catholic Men Association (CMA) has donated K1 million to veteran musician Sir Paul Banda, who has been battling health complications for the past five years.

CMA secretary general Lance Mwayi Mbewe said members contributed the funds after learning about the challenges Banda has been facing, including transport for his dialysis treatments and other daily needs. He said the gesture reflects the church’s call to charity and encouraged Catholic men and all Malawians to continue supporting Banda as he works toward recovery and a possible return to the stage.

Receiving the donation, Sir Paul Banda expressed gratitude for both the financial and spiritual support, saying the assistance came at a critical time.

Banda revealed that his health challenges began in 2021 with high blood pressure before progressing into kidney complications that now require him to undergo dialysis twice every week.

“I go for dialysis twice a week, and if I miss a session, my life is at risk. I can die,” said Banda, founder of Alleluya Band, established in 1977.

He further appealed to the church and its various groups to remember other members who are suffering quietly, urging continued compassion and support for the sick and vulnerable.
