A 36-year-old man has been killed following a violent confrontation at a beer-drinking spot in Kanjati Village, Traditional Authority Kwataine, Ntcheu District, central Malawi.
Police say the killing occurred on the night of November 30, 2025, after an argument between Yohane Charles and a man identified as Silizani Matiki escalated.
According to eyewitness accounts, Matiki pursued Charles outside the drinking joint before stabbing him multiple times using an Okapi knife, inflicting fatal injuries to the head and stomach.
Ntcheu Police Station publicist Jacobs Khembo confirmed the incident, saying officers arrived at the scene and found Charles already dead.
“We recovered the murder weapon at the scene. The suspect fled immediately after the attack and is currently being hunted. We are appealing to the public to share any information that can help us trace and arrest him,” Khembo said in a police briefing.
Authorities have now launched a full manhunt, and further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
The victim, police confirm, was a local resident of the area under T/A Kwataine.
