Headteacher Arrested For Chewing 12 Year-old Pupil in Karonga

Police in Karonga District have arrested headteacher of Lufilya Primary School, Paulendo Ng’ambi, for allegedly having sex with a 12-year-old leaner.
Police spokesperson in the district, Ms. Margret Msiska, confirmed the arrest and said incident on November 10, 2025, when the girl was on her way to a friend’s house when the teacher invited her to his house where he allegedly had unprotected sex with her.
“The suspect then told the girl not to reveal the information as he had bought her some notebooks and other writing materials. However, the girl told her mother who reported the matter to the school and the police and the medical report confirmed the incident,” Msiska said.
Before doing so, the teacher also told the girl to relax because her husband had gone to a funeral.
Mr. Ng’ambi, who hails from Amos village, Kyungu, in Karonga district, is awaiting trial on charges of rape, which is in violation of section 138 of the country’s constitution.
