Kasungu Police Arrest Seven for Possession of 50kg of Marijuana

Police in Kasungu have arrested six men and one woman for possessing marijuana without a permit.
The suspects are Mercy Nyirongo, 34; Innocent Bonongwe, 19; Filosi Manong’a, 52; Paul Kapito, 50; Sadalary Banda; Collins Banda, 19; and Chinga Milanzie, 37.
The arrests took place on December 9 at noon within Kasungu Municipality.
According to Kasungu deputy police spokesperson Miracle Hauli, detectives used their expertise to track down the suspects in different locations, recovering 50 kilograms of marijuana in the process.
Hauli said the suspects will appear in court once all drug tests have been completed by experts from the Chitedze Research Station.
All seven suspects come from Juma Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwase.
