Police in Lilongwe have arrested Limbanazo Chikalipo, 20, on suspicion of murdering Partners in Hope Hospital staff member Peter Mzungu, 50.
Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu said officers have also recovered a Lenovo laptop, a laptop bag, and other items stolen during the assault on Mzungu.
Chigalu explained that after the incident on November 27, police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Blessings Chitukula, 19, and Medson Nackyon, 35. The two were allegedly found with stolen items on the same day Mzungu was attacked. When questioned, they reportedly told police they had bought the items from Chikalipo.
Chigalu added that when police apprehended Chikalipo, he confessed to stealing the items from Mzungu after hitting him on the head with an iron bar.
Peter Mzungu, who worked as an accountant at Partners in Hope Hospital, died on December 1 while receiving treatment at the facility.
