MBC Cancels 2025 Entertainers of the Year Awards, Citing Demanding Schedule

The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has announced the cancellation of the 2025 Entertainers of the Year Awards, citing an exceptionally demanding schedule that has made it difficult to deliver the event to its usual high standards.
MBC’s Public Relations and Customer Affairs Manager, Chisomo Mwamadi, said the corporation has been handling an intense workload in recent months, limiting the time required to properly plan and execute the annual ceremony.
“Over the past months, the Corporation has been managing an exceptionally demanding schedule of activities resulting in limited time to adequately plan, prepare and deliver an event that meets the high standards expected by our audience, nominees and partners,” reads part of the statement.
Despite the cancellation, Mwamadi emphasized that the public broadcaster remains committed to supporting and uplifting Malawi’s creative and entertainment industry. He added that MBC will continue to identify and pursue opportunities that promote local talent and strengthen engagement with the sector.
The corporation further assured that updates on future programmes and related activities will be communicated in due course.
