The Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court in Blantyre will not continue hearing a case today involving a Dutch national, Wim Akster, who is accused of sexually abusing beneficiaries of the Timotheos Foundation.
On 12 November this year, the court adjourned the case to today to give Akster a chance to appoint a new lawyer to replace his lawyer, Fostino Maere, who was appointed Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to the court notice, the hearing of the case will take place on 21 January 2026 at 9 o’clock in the morning.
Today, the state was expected to parade one more witness in the case.
