Nkhata Bay Hospital Attendant Arrested Over Generator Battery Theft

Police in Nkhata Bay have arrested a 31-year-old hospital attendant, Mathias Soko, for allegedly stealing a generator battery used to provide electricity backup at Nkhata Bay District Hospital.
Nkhata Bay Police Deputy Spokesperson Devoter Mithi said the suspect was arrested during the night within the hospital premises while officers were carrying out routine duties.
Senior Health Promotion Officer for the Nkhata Bay District Health Office, Christopher Singini, confirmed that a generator battery had gone missing but said further details could not be disclosed as investigations are ongoing.
The suspect will appear before court soon.
