Asake ‘Devastated’ After Concert Crush Kills 20-Year-Old in Nairobi Kenya

Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake has expressed devastation over the death of 20-year-old Karen Lojore, who died in a crowd crush at a concert he headlined in Nairobi, Kenya.

In a statement released on Monday, Asake said, “My heart goes out to the family, friends and loved ones of Karen Lojore,” pledging to support efforts to “understand what happened” and calling for accountability: “Those responsible should be held accountable.”

Family and friends of the victim have demanded a full investigation into the incident. Kenya Police spokesman Michael Muchiri confirmed to the BBC that inquiries are ongoing.

The concert, Asake and Gabzy Live in Nairobi, was organised by Tukutane Entertainment, which said it was working with authorities to determine the circumstances that led to the tragedy. Social media reports indicated long queues outside the 30,000-capacity stadium, with many attendees stranded while trying to gain entry.
