Man Arrested For Defiling 12-Year-Old Year In Thyolo

Police in Masambanjati, Thyolo District, have arrested a 32-year-old man, Chikumbutso Mujojo, on suspicion of having sex with a 12-year-old girl between November and December this year.
Masambanjati Police Station spokesperson Amos Banda said the matter came to light on December 18 after the girl’s parents took her to Masambanjati Mission Hospital, where she had been unwell for several days.
Banda said that while at the hospital, the girl revealed that the suspect had been having sexual relations with her for about two months and had threatened to kill her if she disclosed the abuse.
Following the revelation, police, working together with village security personnel, arrested the suspect and took him into custody.
He is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of defilement.
Mujojo comes from Mussa Village, Traditional Authority Nsabwe, in Thyolo District.
