Police in Jenda Arrest Man with 87 Kilograms of Cannabis

Police in Jenda, Mzimba District, have arrested a 26-year-old man, Daniel Banda, for being found in possession of 87 kilograms of cannabis, which he was allegedly transporting to Lilongwe.

Jenda Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Precious Mzunga said Banda was arrested in the early hours at a market while attempting to travel with the illegal drug, which he reportedly sourced from Khosolo in the same district.

Mzunga said the cannabis had been concealed in plastic bags and covered with clothes in an attempt to avoid detection.

Police have since sent the seized cannabis to Lunyangwa Research Station for analysis. Banda is expected to appear in court to answer charges of possessing illicit drugs without lawful authority.
