Woman Found Stripped and Brutally Murdered in Rumphi District

A woman identified as Janet has allegedly been found brutally murdered near Phwezi, on the outskirts of Rumphi District. Her body was reportedly discovered yesterday at around 2:00 PM, in what is believed to be a case of violent attack and disposal by unknown assailants.

Preliminary reports indicate that Janet, originally from Salima District, had been residing in Rumphi for several years. She was reportedly engaged in commercial sex work and other informal economic activities. According to sources, her remains are being kept at Rumphi District Hospital mortuary, and initial examinations suggest she sustained serious head injuries as well as stab wounds to the chest.

Police are reported to have launched an investigation, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.

This alleged incident comes just weeks after the reported killing of Beatrice Chabwera in Lilongwe, who was reportedly attacked and stabbed before her body was discovered.

At the time of publishing, the police have not officially released details regarding Janet’s death, and the information currently circulating remains unconfirmed.
