Court Reserves Ruling on Chimwendo Banda Bail Application New version:

The Lilongwe court has reserved its ruling on a bail application in the attempted murder case involving Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda.
The application was heard on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, after the court received submissions from both the defence and the prosecution.
Chimwendo Banda is jointly charged with Alfred Kadula.
The two are facing charges of attempted murder and abduction linked to an incident that allegedly occurred in 2021.
Pending the court’s decision, Chimwendo Banda will remain in custody.
