Malawi’s bodybuilding community is celebrating a new champion following the conclusion of the Mr Malawi competition held at the Kamuzu Institute for Sports in Lilongwe.

Frazer Zeka was crowned Mr Malawi after edging out several top contenders in a contest that tested competitors on muscle development, stage presence, confidence, and overall presentation. Judges assessed physique symmetry, muscle definition, posing, and composure before selecting Zeka as the overall winner.

Zeka walked away with the prestigious Mr Malawi title and a K2 million cash prize, cementing his status as the country’s latest bodybuilding icon.

However, as photos from the competition flooded social media, online discussion quickly took a different turn. While many applauded Zeka’s discipline and physical conditioning, a section of social media users focused on his appearance in the manhood area rather than his muscular form, sparking mixed reactions and debate.

Some commentators defended the athlete, arguing that bodybuilding attire is standard in the sport and that attention should remain on athletic achievement rather than body shaming. Others called for greater respect for athletes and the sport itself.

Despite the online controversy, bodybuilding enthusiasts say Zeka’s victory marks a significant milestone for the sport in Malawi and highlights the growing popularity of competitive bodybuilding in the country.
