More than K60 million is feared to have been stolen during an armed robbery at Masasa Total Filling Station in Ntcheu District in the early hours of today.

Police spokesperson Jacob Khembo said the robbery occurred at around 1:00am and involved five suspects who were armed with pangas.

Khembo said the suspects restrained four security guards before breaking into the filling station’s shop and office, where they stole an undisclosed amount of money.

He added that police are still assessing the exact amount stolen, while a manhunt has been launched to track down the perpetrators.

However, a source who opted for anonymity indicated that the amount stolen could be around K66 million.
