Third-Year Mzuzu University Student Dies After Drinking Alcohol

A 24-year-old third-year student at Mzuzu University, Gracious Mwandira, has died after allegedly consuming alcohol on an empty stomach.
Mzuzu Police spokesperson Augustus Nkhwazi confirmed the incident, citing postmortem results from Mzuzu Central Hospital.
According to Nkhwazi, Mwandira left his residence with friends, and went to a drinking place at Luwinga Trading Centre. He did not return home.
His body was later discovered lifeless around 20:00 hours behind the Central Medical Stores offices in Luwinga.
Police transported the body to Mzuzu Central Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem conducted on Sunday confirmed the cause of death.
Mwandira was from Namapanji Village under Traditional Authority Wenya in Chitipa District.
