The court has reserved its ruling on whether to grant bail to Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda.
Chimwendo Banda has been in custody for more than three weeks following his arrest on charges of attempted murder.
Public prosecutor Ruth Mputeni said the court was following established procedures in handling the matter before delivering its decision.
“The ruling will come in due course,” Mputeni said, without specifying when it would be delivered.
Presiding judge, Justice Mzonde Mvula, said the ruling would be communicated to the parties through email but did not indicate how long the process would take.
