Prominent United Democratic Front (UDF) member Dija Margret Mdala has announced that she has left the party.
Mdala said she made the decision after people in her constituency, particularly in Blantyre West, urged her to contest the forthcoming by-election as an independent candidate.
“As you know, the by-election was not held in Blantyre West on September 16, 2025, because one of the candidates died,” Mdala said.
“Now, the people here have told me that if I want their support, I should stand as an independent. They do not want me to represent the UDF.”
As of now, UDF has not commented on the matter…
