Missing Man Found Dead in Rukuru River in Rumphi

A 52-year-old man, Limited Muluza, has been found dead near Valabao Bridge in the Rukuru River in Rumphi District.
Rumphi Police Station Deputy Public Relations Officer, Omex Macses Madziayenda, said Muluza was reported missing on December 31, 2025, after he failed to return home following a drinking spree.
Madziayenda said the matter was reported to police, and Muluza’s body was discovered floating in the river earlier today.
“Police officers and medical personnel from Rumphi District Hospital visited the scene and certified that death was due to suffocation secondary to drowning,” he said.
The deceased hailed from Makhamba Village under Traditional Authority Thomas in Thyolo District.
