Chinese National Killed In Road Accident In Dowa

A Chinese national has died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident that occurred on the evening of [day] at Nthandi Village in Dowa District, along the Kasungu–Lilongwe M1 Road.

Police have identified the deceased as Zong-Qing Tang, a 33-year-old Chinese national. According to Mponela Police spokesperson Sergeant Macpatson Msadala, Tang was hit by an unidentified motor vehicle that was traveling from Kasungu towards Mponela Trading Centre.

Sergeant Msadala explained that the accident occurred when the vehicle reached Nthandi Village and struck Tang, who was standing in front of a stationary motor vehicle. Due to the impact, Tang sustained severe head injuries.

He was rushed to Madisi Mission Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop after the accident and fled the scene. Police have since launched a manhunt to track down and arrest the suspect.
