Police in Lingadzi, Lilongwe, have arrested a 35-year-old domestic worker and her accomplice for allegedly stealing 74 Samsung tablets valued at K51 million.

The suspects have been identified as Anastanzia Fabiano, who was employed by the victim, and her close associate Luciano Chitimbe, also 35.

Lingadzi Police spokesperson, Sergeant Maria Kumwenda, confirmed the development, stating that the arrests followed a complaint filed by Aulive Msoma regarding the missing electronics.

According to Kumwenda, investigative leads led officers to a person found in possession of one of the stolen tablets. Upon interrogation, the buyer revealed that the gadget was purchased from Chitimbe.

“Following his arrest, Chitimbe implicated Fabiano, identifying her as the primary source of the stolen goods,” said Kumwenda.

The police have since managed to recover 33 of the 74 tablets. The two suspects have reportedly confessed to the crime and are expected to appear in court soon to face theft charges.

Anastanzia Fabiano hails from Michiliro Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mthiramanja in Mulanje, while Luciano Chitimbe comes from Chinkondenji Village, T/A Nsamala in Balaka.
