Two people have been injured in a road accident that occurred at Kafola along the Chitipa–Ilomba road in Chitipa District.
Chitipa Police spokesperson Gladwel Simwaka said the accident involved a Fuso Fighter lorry driven by Davie Msukwa, 25, which was travelling from Mbilima en route to Chitipa Boma.
According to Simwaka, upon reaching Kafola, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, causing it to overturn and veer off the road.
Msukwa sustained serious neck injuries, while passenger Rose Phiri suffered back injuries. Both were admitted to Chitipa District Hospital. Two other occupants, a man and a woman, received treatment and were later discharged.
Meanwhile, police have urged all road users to exercise caution, especially during the rainy season, noting that wet and slippery roads increase the risk of accidents.
