Police in Lilongwe have arrested former Minister of Homeland Security, Ezekiel Ching’oma, yesterday.
His lawyer, Jefferson Luwa, confirmed the arrest and said Ching’oma is being detained at Lumbadzi Police Station.
Luwa explained that the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) national executive member was picked up from his residence at around 5:00 a.m.
He added that police have not yet disclosed the reason for the arrest.
Ching’oma’s arrest brings the number of senior MCP members arrested since the party lost power to five.
He is expected to appear before court soon.
