Popular local musician Fred Mw is being hailed as “lucky to be alive” after surviving two separate road accidents in the span of just 72 hours.
The artist, known for hits such as Mnyumbamu and Bwanji, first cheated death three days ago while driving from Chitakale toward Mathambi. According to Fred, a front tyre on his vehicle burst near the Seyama factory, causing the car to flip and sustain heavy damage, including a shattered windscreen.
“It took me about 20 minutes to realize what had happened,” Fred Mw shared in a social media post. “When I got out, I didn’t have a single scratch. Looking at the car now, I don’t understand how I am okay. God loves us; let us respect Him.”
The Second Incident However, in a shocking turn of events, the artist was involved in a second accident just two days later. Reports indicate that Fred Mw was involved in a motorcycle accident while returning from a hospital visit—likely for a check-up following his first ordeal.
While details on the extent of the latest crash are still emerging, the artist has reached out to his fans and followers with an emotional plea for support. “I am asking everyone who follows me and loves my music to please pray for me,” he requested.
The news has sparked an outpouring of concern from the Malawian music community, with many fans taking to social media to offer prayers for the artist’s recovery and safety following this “double-tragedy” streak
