Mighty Wanderers Football Club have officially announced the departure of team captain Lawrence Chaziya, bringing to an end his stay with the Lali Lubani Road outfit.
In a statement shared on the club’s official Facebook page, Wanderers praised Chaziya for his commitment, leadership, and professionalism, describing him as a role model both on and off the pitch during his time at the club.
“Lawrence was an exemplary leader who showed dedication and character throughout his service to the club,” the statement reads.
The experienced center-back has already penned a pre-contract deal with Zimbabwean club Simba Bhora FC and is expected to join his new team after his contract with the Nomads ends.
Chaziya, who was born in 1998, joined Mighty Wanderers in 2023 after signing a three-year contract from Hussein Irbid SC of Jordan, where he had been on a 10-month deal. Before his move abroad, the midfielder also featured for Civil Service United.
Following the announcement, Chaziya took to his personal Facebook page to pen an emotional farewell message, thanking the club’s coaches, teammates, and management for their support and belief in him.
“To the coaches at Mighty Wanderers FC, thank you for believing in me, pushing me, and demanding the best version of me every day. You didn’t just shape me into a better player, you taught me discipline, resilience, and what it truly means to fight for the team,” Chaziya wrote.
He also paid tribute to his teammates, describing them as brothers and highlighting the strong bond they built through shared battles, victories, and defeats.
“I leave Mighty Wanderers FC with nothing but gratitude, respect, and love. No matter where the next chapter of my journey takes me, a part of me will always belong here,” he added.
Chaziya wished Mighty Wanderers continued success as he prepares for the next chapter of his football career.
