CDH Investment Bank has pumped in MK3 million to the two-day Malawi Aquatic Union Southern Region swimming competition being held at St. Andrews International High School in Blantyre.
Speaking after the donation CDH investment Bank Risk and Compliance Officer Robert Malipa said swimming is one of the minority sports in the country which lacks sponsorship hence the move to promote it.
“We believe swimming can put Malawi on the map. Historically, it has lacked funding, so our contribution aims to elevate the sport to an international standard,” he said.
Malipa said the banks believe the sponsorship will help to increase the number of participants.
Malawi Aquatic Union Southern Region chairperson Louis Gadama applauded the CDH Investment Bank for the timely sponsorship.
“We are very grateful to CDH Investment Bank for the donation. The money received today will help in meeting some of the logistics for the ongoing competition,” said Gadama.
Over 100 people are taking part in the swimming competition.
