At least six girls at Tukombo Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Nkhata Bay South have dropped out of school after being impregnated in the first term of this academic year alone.
The school’s headteacher Ansite Kapanga Manda who confirmed the development today, attributed this to wearing of revealing miniskirts and other garments, which she said attract men and distract male learners.
Manda disclosed this after the school sent home some female students who were not complying with school regulations that prohibit the wearing of miniskirts at the institution.
She explained that male students had anonymously lodged a complaint, claiming that some girls’ revealing skirts were distracting them during school activities and lessons.
However, one concerned parent who opted for anonymity whose cousin is among the students chased from school over indecent dressing, argues that the skirts in question are long enough, describing it as unfair treatment to the girls.
