Malomo Police in Ntchisi District have arrested five people on suspicion of attempting to steal fertiliser under the Farm Input Subsidy Programme (FISP).

Police Spokesperson Salomy Zgambo confirmed that the arrests were made on January 25, 2026.

The suspects have been identified as Dalitso Chimchere (32), Friday Phillimoni (37), Henry Kanyumbala (54), Constance Kasunda (28), and Walesi Nthala (34).

Zgambo said the suspects, who are employees of a fertiliser company and other businesses, were found in possession of agricultural input purchase certificates and cash.

The items are believed to be linked to the attempted illegal acquisition of subsidised fertiliser. The five suspects are currently in police custody.

They are expected to appear in court once investigations are completed.
