Police have arrested three more suspects in connection with a graveyard tampering case involving the exhumation of forearms of a woman with albinism at Malitoni Village, Traditional Authority Msakambewa in Dowa district.
Deputy National Public Relations Officer, Alfred Chimthere, said the case follows an incident in which unknown people tampered with the grave of the late Mausamatha Zacharia, who died and was buried in August 2023.
“Following the earlier arrest of six suspects, including a village headman, police detectives arrested three additional suspects,” said Chimthere.
He identified them as Farai Mwambukulu (48) of Chiliphiza Village, Traditional Authority Chakhaza; Lloyd James (35) of Salanyama Village, Traditional Authority Msakambewa; and Kennedy Kafa Sainani (38) of Msungamoyo Village, Traditional Authority Mkukula, all in Dowa District.
Chimthere added that police have recovered the forearm bones that were removed from the grave.
