A 29-year-old vendor, Jailosi Faiton, has been convicted by the Mkukula First Grade Magistrate’s Court in Lumbadzi, Dowa, for vending at Kamuzu International Airport without authorisation.

Faiton, who hails from Area 25C, pleaded guilty to illegal vending at an aerodrome, an offence contrary to Section 19(5) of the Aviation Regulations.

The court sentenced him to three months’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.

Kamuzu International Airport Public Relations Officer Sapuleni Chitonde said law enforcers will not tolerate unauthorised vending at the airport premises.

Police have warned would-be offenders to desist from the practice or risk arrest.
