First Grade Magistrate Kondani Chinangwa has adjourned to February 9 the case involving the exhumation of the body of a person with albinism in Dowa.

Five out of the ten suspects accused of digging up the grave and extracting human tissues pleaded guilty to the charges when they appeared in court yesterday.

However, the state has withdrawn charges against three suspects, Group Village Headman Khombera, Lazaro Gidion and Yakobe Chadza, who were initially linked to the case.

The remaining two suspects, Farai Mwambukulu, a businessman based in Ntchisi District, and Tonny Chawanda Mwale, have denied all the charges levelled against them.

Police told the court that on Monday night this week, officers recovered forearm bones believed to belong to a person with albinism at Mwambukulu’s house in Ntchisi.

The case will return to court on February 9 for further proceedings.
