Ekhaya FC has issued a stinging “red card” to award-winning fashion designer Roy Banda, popularly known as Roy View, publicly distancing the club from his activities following allegations of a merchandise scam.

The Lilongwe-based side released an official “Club Statement” on Friday, denouncing the designer and warning the public that he has no legal mandate to represent the team or sell its apparel.

Roy View, a well-known figure in the fashion industry, has recently been trending on social media for posting Ekhaya FC merchandise, claiming to be the creative brain behind the designs. He even went as far as posting photos posing with club officials to cement the “official” look.

However, the club has revealed a darker side to the “collaboration,” alleging that Banda has been using the brand to “fleece” unsuspecting fans.

“The club has been made aware that Mr. Banda has been involved in scamming members of the public, taking money and failing to deliver jerseys and other merchandise,” the statement reads.

The club pulled no punches in clarifying the relationship or lack thereof with the designer.

“We wish to make it absolutely clear that Mr. Roy Banda is NOT affiliated with Ekhaya FC in any capacity. He is not an official, not a representative, and has no contract or mandate to sell Ekhaya FC merchandise.”

Ekhaya FC further informed its supporters that all official jerseys are currently SOLD OUT, warning fans that any “special deals” currently being offered by third parties like Roy View are fraudulent.

In a show of solidarity with their victimized supporters, the club has asked those who lost money to the designer to come forward with “verifiable proof.” The club management has promised to review these cases to see how they can support the fans who were caught in the crossfire.

The fashion designer, who has built a reputation for dressing high-profile figures, has yet to officially respond to the club’s heavy-hitting allegations.
