Police Arrest Woman for Illegal Possession of Medical Drugs in Dowa

Police in Mponela, Dowa District, have arrested a 40-year-old woman, Gladys Chimbanga, on suspicion of possessing various medical drugs without proper documentation.
Mponela Police spokesperson Macpatson Msadala said Chimbanga was arrested on February 6 this year at Mtsukamakoza Trading Centre following a tip-off from well-wishers who alleged that she was selling the drugs.
Msadala said police, working in collaboration with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA), conducted a search at Chimbanga’s home where they discovered assorted drugs, including lignocaine (LA), Benzylpenicillin injections, Paracetamol, Ceftriaxone, Amoxicillin, Gentamicin, and Diclofenac, among others.
Gladys Chimbanga hails from Mkutuwa Village under Traditional Authority Chakhaza in Dowa District.
