The National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) has reduced the maize buying price from K55,000 to K42,000 per 50-kilogramme bag ahead of the resumption of purchases nationwide on Tuesday.
In a public notice dated February 9, 2026, the agency said the price reduction follows findings from recent market research.
NFRA noted that the maize purchases will be conducted strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
In December last year, the agency had announced the resumption of maize buying at K55,000 per 50kg bag.
However, the process was later suspended due to financial constraints.
