Lilongwe Crossroads kidnapping: Police Identify ‘Persons of Interest’

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has assured the public that investigations into the reported kidnapping at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe are being treated with urgency.
In a statement released on February 11, 2026, the police said investigations were launched immediately after the incident was reported on February 6.
Police said there are persons of interest in the case and that they are working closely with the victim’s family as efforts to resolve the matter continue.
The MPS has appealed to members of the public who may have useful information to report through the police hotline 0884 733 333 or the nearest police station.
Police have also urged the public to refrain from circulating unverified information on social media, warning that it may compromise ongoing investigations.
The statement assured the public that every effort is being made to ensure the victim’s safe recovery and that justice is served.
