The Midima Second Grade Magistrate’s Court in Limbe, Blantyre, has sentenced 22-year-old Limbani Katuli to pay a fine of K2 million or serve five years in prison after he was found guilty of stealing a Lifan motorcycle.

Magistrate Patricia Mtawali heard from the prosecution, Sub-Inspector Annie Kamwendo, that Katuli committed the offence on 29 January 2026 in Thyolo District.

Although Katuli asked the court for a lenient sentence, the magistrate ordered him to pay a fine of K2,200,000 or serve five years’ imprisonment to help curb motorcycle theft.
