Machinga Mob Kills Suspected Chicken Thief

Police in Machinga are searching for two suspects in connection with the death of 38-year-old Fred Ligomeka, who was allegedly caught stealing chickens in Lipangani Village.
Malawi Police Service spokesperson Western Kansire confirmed the incident, saying it occurred during the night of the 14th and 15th of this month.
According to Kansire, Ligomeka reportedly went to steal chickens from a house in the village when the owner noticed him and raised an alarm.
The screams attracted a mob of community members who apprehended Ligomeka and assaulted him severely.
He was later stripped naked and taken to Chikwewo Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death.
Hospital reports indicated that he died due to massive blood loss resulting from injuries to his head and legs.
Police have since warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands as investigations continue.
